A FIRST FOR SUSSEX ! The Hornet Rove Beetle - Velleius dilatatus, (Coleoptera, Staphalinidae) This beetle is known from single records only in a few sites in South East England, one in Devon and the New Forest where there are several records between 1864 and 1971. It is associated with Hornet Vespa crabro, nests and was identified by Martin Love from a sample of Tabanid flies collected from Bury, near Pulborough on the 6th August 2003.
